November 2005
We’ve had some good lively sessions this half term, and we have welcomed several new members.
Our trip to the Police Airborne Operations Headquarters at Wattisham was a great night out. We were made very welcome, given a tour of their base and shown some police videos of pursuits in the local area. The youngsters were very interested to get inside information and asked many questions which were answered by the crew. Luckily there were no call-outs while we were there, so we were able to round the evening off by all being allowed to sit inside the helicopter (not all at once) and we were given a demonstration of the night vision camera and other equipment. We give our thanks to all the crew who gave us such a friendly and enjoyable visit.

October 2005
Holidays over and its nice to get back into the routine again, although I know one or two who are not so keen to be back at school, (and they're the teachers)!
I've arranged for club members to visit the Police Helicopter Base at Wattisham on Thursday 6th October at 7.00pm. We will have a guided tour, meet crew members and watch some police videos. This should make an interesting evening out.
We will be having another pool tournament on Thursday 20th October, so get your names down for a chance to win the cup and a prize.
New members are always welcome, as are helpers. We meet at the OHS Community Centre on Thursday evenings, 6.30pm-9.00pm during term time.
July 2005
During May and June the Youth Club has again been very well attended and everything is running smoothly. The good weather that we've had has seen the youngsters playing football and other games out on the playing field. We have a very talented girl's team at the moment, which have beaten the boys a few times!
We held another pool tournament, with a very good entry from some excellent young players. Adam Smith won the cup and prize money and Nathan Barnard was a very close second Well done everyone who took part.
The Youth Club will be at OHS Fete................
On Sunday July 3rd, we will again be raising funds for the OHS Community Centre and Playing Field. The Youth Club marquee will have a children's tombola, a bookstall, and we will also be selling the OHS T-shirts. We are trying to organise a 'wellie throwing' competition, so we will need helpers on the day. Please contact me if you can spare a little time to help out, (Audrey 614184).
Youth Club membership .................
May I just give a little reminder to the few that haven't yet paid their annual subscription of £3.00 that it is now due - please.
Can any adults spare a little time each month to help out at club sessions, or just come to help put away the equipment at the end? It would be very much appreciated. Please contact Audrey
There seems to be several new faces in the village at the moment. If any youngsters (9-17yrs) would like to join Youth Club, you will be made very welcome. We have a good range of equipment, sports, crafts and games, PS2s, dance mats, TVs, music, chill-out corner and tuck-shop. Youth Club is open every Thursday during term time, 6-30pm - 9-OOpm. The annual membership is £3-00 and then each session is just £1-00. Just turn up, or contact Audrey . We will be closed for the summer hols, but may be able to get together for some games on the playing field.
We hope everyone has a lovely summer.
May 2005
Now the lighter evenings are here the numbers attending are well up again. The Youth Club has been running for a year now and| has made good use of the grant money made available.
The latest equipment purchased has been, two new TVs, two new I PS2 consoles etc, two new arcade style dance mats, a new line! marker for marking out our pitches, a new electronic darts scoring unit, punch bag and boxing gloves, various other sports items and craft equipment. We are awaiting delivery of a 'Parachute', so you may see some strange things going on at the playing field on) Thursday evenings.
As our grant has to be used within the first year we will now be self-funding, and we have a few ideas for fund raising for ourselves as well as for our chosen charities.
On the 7th April I took some members on a fishing trip to Rushbrook Lake near Bury St Edmunds, by the kind invitation of David Wales who runs the Bury Youth Club and some of their members. The weather stayed fine for us and we had a brilliant day out and a few sizeable catches! We are trying to organise another days fishing in the near future.
Our pool table which was mysteriously broken (not by Youth Club) has now been mended, thanks to John and Mark, and is as popular as ever.
As we start a Youth Club's new year the annual membership fee of £3.00 is now due. This helps towards our running costs. The cost per session is £1.00 and we still have room for a few more members.
Anyone aged between 9yrs and 17yrs will be made welcome. We meet Thursday evenings, 6.30pm - 9.00pm term time.
February 2005
We've had another good month at the Club. On the 27th of January we had an excellent session which was unusually quiet, the reason, THE BIG HUSH'. After the boisterous first 30 minutes we all gathered together and did a sponsored silence to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund. Youngsters from all over the country had the opportunity to help others and learn a bit about Macmillan Cancer Relief who support people and families living with cancer. I must say I was very proud of our young folk, almost every regular club member took part, some even managed to keep silent until the end of our session!!!
Well done every one, and special thanks to Terri Harvey who helped me to organise it, to all our young members who took the time to get sponsored, and to everyone who gave to this much needed cancer care fund. We set a target of £200.00, expecting to raise about £150-00, but poor Terri has been kept very busy filling in our fund chart as the sponsor money comes in, we passed £150.00 then £175.00 then £200.00 and off the chart, now heading towards £300.00! Thanks to all for your support. Audrey
P.S. We are down to just four regular volunteers, any help to set up or put away, or any one who could sit and help with craft projects, or just be around to supervise would be very welcome, it need only be 2 - 3 hours a month, and our children are well worth it!
January 2005
We've had a very busy month, with all the excitement of Christmas and a very enjoyable (but rather noisy) Christmas party which gave us the chance to try out our electric bubble maker machine, along with our disco lights and plenty of balloons it was quite effective. The karaoke and disco went well, as did the food!
Our children took part in a sponsored silence on 27th January as part of Macmillan Cancer Reliefs THE BIG HUSH 2005, they may have been around with sponsor forms, but if they didn't call on you and you would like to help please call Audrey to make a pledge/donation. We thank you for your support.
