Community Centre

General Info

The Community Centre building (the old school)

The Community Centre and the playing field is registered as a charity and has to be run in accordance with the Charity Commissioners Rules and Regulations. The Management Committee, is made up of twelve elected members, and representatives from all user groups. The Committee meets on the third Monday of each month.

We have an Administrator who runs the Centre on a daily basis and deals with all bookings.

Within the Centre we have a number of user groups who regularly use the facilities. For example, a Playgroup for children, who use the centre on a number of mornings each week. There is also the Sports and Social club who run the bar and contribute to the finances of the whole Centre; the Jubilee Players meet and rehearse here for their productions; and the Centre also provides a home for the Youth Club.

As a Committee our main aim is to raise the money needed to run the Centre and we have a number of money raising events during the year. Our main event is the annual Fete which is held on the playing field during July.

The committee also has a feasibility group which is considering the future of the centre. They have a number of options under consideration as to what is required for the future development of this important facility. They would however welcome any suggestions that haven't been previously forwarded.

If you would like to book the Community Centre for an event, please contact Lucinda Rogers on 01449 677882.

Refuse collection

Please note that due to the increased costs of refuse collection the Management Committee request that all users of the Community Centre arrange to remove their own refuse. In future there will not be a refuse collection at the Community Centre

Church Room/Community Centre Car Park Car Park

The above area is private ground and is for people using the Church Room or Community Centre only. Recently it has become a loitering ground for youngsters, some of whom are being ferried by parents or in taxis from and to Stowmarket. Unfortunately there is an increasing amount of litter being left and both buildings have been targets of vandalism.

Police advice has been sought and as a first step notices will be placed to point out that the ground is private. This will then enable them to move on anyone who does not have business in either of the buildings.

We hope that residents will understand the need for action to be taken in this matter.
