The warm wet summer has seen our community flower boxes blooming around the village, many thanks to those of you who have given water to them when needed.
A team of volunteers has been trying to keep up with maintaining them, also doing grass cutting around the village and tidying up around the Community Centre, clearing leaves and overgrown shrubbery.
Several residents have been impressed, and asked if we could install flower boxes near to where they live, we already have 18 filled boxes and have arranged to make about 6 more.
May we please ask, if you have flowers near to you, to give them water, or dead head them if you feel you are able, when necessary, thanks.
We would like to thank the Parish Council for granting us some funds to carry on with the work of making the village a pleasant place to live, and to travel through. So many positive comments are still being received from inside the village and further a-field. Thank you, and well done to everyone who cares enough to get involved, you are doing a wonderful job.
Thanks also go to the ‘Community Centre Management Committee’ who agreed to let us have the use of some of the Community Centre out-buildings, which we have cleared inside and out, made various repairs to and made secure by putting on new doors and locks.
Another idea put forward to us is to plant more daffodil bulbs or bluebells, and to plant clumps of Lavender to help the bees and butterflies, as well as looking and smelling nice. We have had an offer of help to provide ornamental and fruit trees in green areas around the village, and would like to have your thoughts on where you might like to see them. We would also like to ask anyone interested in helping to plant them, or have any other ideas, to contact Audrey, on 614184
It has been suggested that we try to encourage people to put up nesting boxes for the birds, we’ve already put some up around the village, and if anyone would like one for their garden or as a Birthday or Christmas gift, they can be made to order, catering for various bird species or even bats, for a small sum of £5.00 each, any profit will go back into CATs fund and enable us to carry on our work.
Anyone interested in helping us in any way, big or small, please contact Audrey on 614184.
